Computer Fact #1

From my own personal experience, I have always used the basic way of uninstalling a program for any computer. Any time I installed something I didn't like and wanted gone, at least with windows, I went straight to the control panel and uninstalled the program, as I'm sure most people would do, right? However, this process does not necessarily get rid of the program completely from the system or hard drive.

I discovered this myself on Windows after I began exploring the actual hard drive and things that are stored on it when any type of software or games are installed to the computer. If you really want something that is still taking up space on your computer gone, usually on both Macs and Pcs, you must first uninstall the program, and then go to the hard drive of your computer, and delete the system folder for said program, otherwise it would just be there taking up space for no reason.

The reason you have to do this is because the people who design the computers think that once you install something that it would be better to keep the system folder on the hard drive in case you change your mind and want the program back, making it a quicker process if the files are still there on the hard drive. But for people who use up a lot of their memory for specific tasks or other programs, those spaces taken up by unused programs could add up and reduce the amount of memory you have for no reason. Also, after deleting the file or any shortcuts for these unused programs or games, empty the recycle bin or they will just sit their on your desktop!

Also know that anytime you delete something and empty the recycle bin, It is not necessarily gone either. Since the program was on the hard drive in a specific spot using a certain amount of memory, you cannot be sure that deleting the program and installing another will completely overwrite where that one was, which would make it retrievable unless you use some decent file deletion software to ensure this.
